A senior official from China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) has called for closer cooperation of the chambers of commerce of the countries along the Silk Road.

Lu Pengqi, Vice Chairman of CCPIT made the pledge as he was attending the 2018 Round Table Conference of Silk Road International Chambers of Commerce in Xi’an on May 12. Lu hailed China’s continuous opening up as trade and investment opportunities for all countries across the world.

“I made three proposals on the cooperation among chambers of commerce. First, we need to build trade and investment promotion platforms. Second, we shall actively propel intergovernmental policy coordination. Last but not least, we need to foster commercial and legal information services,” added Lu.

More than 200 delegates from 56 chambers of commerce across 36 countries including Malaysia, Turkey, India, etc attended the conference.

The major topics for discussion include the role that the Silk Road Business Council shall play in the new era, pilot free trade zones and Belt and Road international trade and investment facilitation, international industrial capacity cooperation trend, etc.
