China & Indonesia discuss a plan of building a regional economic corridor

China and Indonesia discussed a plan of jointly building a regional economic corridor.

The plan was being discussed as Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Jiang Zengwei met with Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs of Indonesia and Thomas Lembong, Chairman of Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) in Jakarta on May 7.

Jiang Zengwei said, CCPIT is willing to make full use of its advantages to participate in the construction of the regional economic corridor. CCPIT will work with the Indonesian side to foster cooperation between enterprises of both sides in investment, finance, agriculture, maritime industry, e-commerce, etc.

Luhut and Thomas said, Indonesian government attaches importance to the economic and trade cooperation with China. Indonesia is willing to match the regional economic corridor with China’s Belt and Road Initiative to deepen bilateral cooperation in infrastructure and capacity.

“Indonesia will continue to improve its business environment and welcome more Chinese investment. Meanwhile, we will work together in talent building to enhance people-to-people exchanges,” added Luhut and Thomas.
