Government representative of International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing (Expo 2019 Beijing) Organizing Committee Wang Jinzhen, who is also Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) attended and addressed a promotion fair for the East African Community (EAC) in Beijing on December 1. Uganda’s ambassador to China Chrispus Kiyonga, diplomatic envoys and representatives from Member States of East African Community (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sultan, Rwanda, Burundi) were invited to attend the promotion conference, Deputy director of Expo 2019 Beijing Wang Chuncheng, former Chinese ambassador to Uganda Zhao Yali also attended the conference.

Wang Jinzhen shared the progress of the preparation for the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing, and expressed gratitude for Uganda and Burundi‘s written confirmation for participating in the Expo 2019 Beijing.

“Chinese government attaches great importance to organizing the Expo 2019 Beijing, and it will provide an exchange and cooperation platform for horticultural industry, tourism resources and technical products. The EAC is rich in plant species thus will have a unique display at the Expo, and the exhibition of tropical horticultural plants will become a highlight. We hope the EAC can build a pavilion together to share their development concepts and characteristic resources, strengthen cooperation with China and promote the development of horticultural industries,” added Wang.

Wang Chuncheng introduced the promotion policies and service safeguard measures of the Expo 2019 Beijing. He noted, the organizers will offer supports for the participating countries in exhibition design, volunteer services and financial assistance. The EAC countries are expected to participate in the Expo to achieve connectivity and win-win cooperation, strengthen the multiple exchanges and contribute to promoting eco-development.

The representatives from the EAC member countries highly praised the preparatory work of the Expo 2019 Beijing, and thoroughly discussed issues, which include participation manners, favorable policies, transportation of exhibits and custom clearance and supporting services. Officials from the EAC countries said they will promote their governments to confirm the participation in the Expo 2019 Beijing as soon as possible.
