CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade) Fujian Pilot Free Trade Zone Pingtan Service Center, the seventh of its kind among the 11 pilot free trade zones in China, was unveiled in Pingtan on October 25.
CCPIT Vice Chairman Lu Pengqi attended and addressed the inauguration ceremony. Lu noted, the initiation of the Pilot Free Trade Zone Service Center marked a solid step forward for CCPIT to implement China’s Pilot Free Trade Zone strategy.
“By setting up Pilot Free Trade Zone Service Center, CCPIT is dedicated to further supporting the construction of the pilot free trade zones and providing services for local governments and enterprises. Fujian Pilot Free Trade Zone, taking the responsibility of innovating cooperation mechanism across the Taiwan Straits, is promoting trade and investment liberalization process between Chinese mainland and Taiwan, constructing a pilot free trade zone to deepen economic cooperation across the Straits, and building an open economy by favor of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road,” added Lu.
Lin Wenyao, Director of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone Administrative Committee, noted that since the operation of the pilot zone, there has been a trial operation in investment, trade, finance and monitoring, having preliminarily established a comprehensive and open trial platform and created an internationalized and legalized business environment for local enterprises.
“The Service Center will give impetus to the development of Pingtan Free Trade Zone and render Pingtan serve an important role in deepening cooperation across the Taiwan Straits and in promoting construction along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road,” said Lin.
Lu Pengqi said, CCPIT will give full play to its broad connections with domestic and international business community, a variety of trade and investment promotion approaches and platforms, and quality services in commercial and legal sectors to explore resources for Pingtan Free Trade Zone, assist enterprises to get internationalized and promote the development of Pingtan.
