A MOU signed between CCPIT and Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao)

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) in Macao on October 19. CCPIT Vice Chairman Zhang Wei and Xu Yingzhen, Secretary General of the Forum Macao signed the MoU on behalf of their agencies respectively.

According to the MOU, the two sides will establish a regular meeting mechanism, vigorously promote the business relations among the Chinese mainland, Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries, by way of business information sharing, joint researches, exchange of business visits, cooperation in business negotiations and matchmaking, and training sessions.

The Forum Macao was founded in October, 2003 by the Central Government of China, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, hosted by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, with participation of 7 Portuguese-speaking countries, namely Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and Timor-Leste. Sao Tome and Principe formally joined in the forum in March, 2017.

The forum, as a non-political inter-governmental multilateral economic and trade cooperation mechanism under the theme of economic and trade promotion and development. It aims to play the role of Macao as an economic platform linking China and Portuguese-speaking countries, promote economic exchanges and common development among China, Portuguese-speaking countries and Macao. Since its foundation, the Forum has made positive contribution to the upgrading of economic cooperation among participating countries.
