A training session for Chinese agribusiness companies “Going Global”, co-hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and China’s Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) opened in Tianjin on October 17. Along with the training session also came an economic and trade cooperation meeting for Latin American countries.
CCPIT Vice Chairman Zhang Wei, and Agustin Garcia Rechy, Director of Mexico’s Trade, Investment and Entrepreneurs Committee, Asia Pacific Region attended and addressed the opening ceremony.
Zhang Wei noted, China is now the second largest trading partner of Latin America, which also becomes China’s second largest overseas investment destination, after Asia.
“Latin America and China boast broad cooperation opportunities in the fields of agriculture and fishery. The cooperation in agriculture between China and Latin America is of great significance to develop modern agribusiness, lift farming quality, raise international competitiveness, promote international exchanges and deepen friendship between peoples of China and other countries. CCPIT and the Ministry of Agriculture will continue to further enlarge long-term cooperation in agribusiness in the future,” added Zhang.
Deputy Director General of Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture Zhao Weining noted, MoA and CCPIT see talent and capacity building as an important task. By hosting a variety of training sessions and business seminars, the two institutions endeavor to raise the level of international cooperation for Chinese agribusiness.
36 delegates from 8 countries, such as Mexico, Panama, the Dominican Republic as well as nearly 200 delegates from Chinese agribusiness companies participated in the training session. The 3-day training included the interpretation of new policies on overseas cooperation in agribusiness, top-level lectures, business matching, etc.
