China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) exchanged ideas on training cooperation in trade, sustainable development and clean energy.

The two sides explored cooperation intentions as CCPIT Vice Chairman Wang Jinzhen met with Ibrahim Thiaw, Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Beijing on August 22.

“CCPIT hopes to further cooperation with UNEP to host training sessions, seminars, forums, exhibitions and other trade and investment promotion events relevant to sustainable development and clean energy. By doing so, China can spread its experience to other developing countries as a guide to tackle climate change, push South-South cooperation and implement the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda,” said Wang.

Wang’s suggestion was echoed by Ibrahim who hailed China’s contribution in the reduction of greenhouse gas emission and green development. Ibrahim noted, China has mature technology and experience in the harness of clean energy, which is highly compatible with the needs in Africa’s sustainable development. UNEP expects to collaborate with CCPIT to spread China’s green development technology in developing countries. Ibrahim hoped CCPIT can organize Chinese new energy companies to attend the United Nations Environment Conference in Nairobi in December, 2017. What is more, training sessions are expected to be organized by CCPIT during the same period.

Wang Jinzhen also invited Ibrahim to participate in the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition.
