A promotion fair for countries of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) for the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 (Beijing Expo 2019) was held in Astana, Kazakhstan on August 15. Government representatives from 11 countries of the Caribbean Community, such as Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & Grenadines and Suriname, etc. attended the fair.
CCPIT Vice Chairman Wang Jinzhen, also the chief government representative of the Beijing Expo 2019 briefed about the preparation of the horticultural event, which is themed at “Live Green, Live Better”.
Wang said, up to now, more than 80 countries have the intention of participating in the expo, which is scheduled from April 29 to October 7, 2019, and nearly 30 countries have confirmed participation. All the participating countries will showcase the development and achievements of their horticulture industry. A variety of events will also be on stage to display the unique culture of these countries. Wang welcomed countries of the Caribbean Community to participate.
“The horticultural event will provide a stage for participating countries to display their unique horticultural industry, specialties, tourism resources and technologies. The event will foster cooperation between China and CARICOM countries in horticultural industry, and enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges,” added Wang.
Representatives from CARICOM countries spoke highly of the preparatory work of the Beijing Expo 2019 after they had watched a short film about the horticultural event. They hailed the well-prepared event and conveyed their gratitude for the assistance to all developing countries.
