Discussion Meeting for Companies Investing in the U.S. Successfully Held

The Discussion Meeting for Companies Investing in the U.S., organized by the CCPIT and aiming to understand investment issues in the U.S., was held on July 7. Wang Jinzhen, vice chairman of the CCPIT, and Tong Daochi, assistant to the Minister of the MOFCOM, attended the meeting.

Wang Jinzhen said that since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and the U.S., the bilateral trade and investment have been undergoing rapid growth with cooperation areas enlarging. Chinese companies have made success in their investments into the U.S., but also faced a series of issues in terms of investment inspection and market regulations. The CCPIT will work closely with the MOFCOM, to play to its strength of bilateral industry and business cooperation mechanism and promote the China-U.S. trade and investment relationship by creating various platforms, and providing services for the government and business industry.

Tong Daochi shared the background of China-U.S. bilateral investment agreement negotiation and its recent progress, saying that the agreement will help alleviate investment barriers against Chinese investors, setting limits to the U.S.’ rampant application of investment security inspection system, and injecting new momentum to bilateral investment development by loosening entry limits to reciprocal markets.

Corporate representatives also shared their opinions and reflected the difficulties they faced when investing into the U.S. They hoped that the government shall increase policy coordination, promote the China-U.S. investment agreement negotiation and create a fair, open and transparent investment environment for companies. 

The meeting was hosted by Yu Jianlong, secretary-general of the CCOIC. About 60 representatives from 37 companies in the sectors of electronics, chemistry, construction, energy, real estate, equipment manufacturing and bio-technology, were present at the meeting.
