The 2015 CCPIT Summary Conference was held in Beijing on January 18, 2016. Secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and Chairman of the CCPIT Jiang Zengwei made a keynote speech.

Jiang said, 2015 is a crucial year of the comprehensively deepening reform, the final year of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” and an important year for the CCPIT to “lay the foundation, build the frame”. Under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, with the joint efforts of the cadres and staffs, the CCPIT centers on the overall goal of serving the national open economy, thoroughly implements the major strategies like “Belt and Road Initiative”, promotion of international cooperation of capacity and equipment manufacturing, and acceleration of fostering new competitive advantages of foreign trade. With focus on trade and investment promotion as well as commercial and legal services, it actively fulfills the functions of serving government, enterprises and speaking for industrial and commercial circles. It has achieved the stated objective of “enhancing quality and efficiency of the original business, accelerating the pace of new business”. Thanks to its expanding functions, the CCPIT has been highly appreciated by the Party and state leaders, and generally accepted by the society and enterprises.

Jiang said, making full use of its advantages of identity, the CCPIT integrates resources and forces to complete the major tasks assigned by the State successfully, thus playing an important role in promotion government affairs though economy and civil society in the country's external work. During the 12 foreign visits of Vice Premier Wang Yang and other leaders as well as the 15 visits of foreign leaders to China, the CCPIT held 29 supporting business activities. These events are far more than the past either in terms of number and scale or in terms of outcome and impact. The CCPIT builds a platform for the leaders to introduce policies, and meanwhile promotes foreign trade and investment cooperation through the activities, which enriches the outcome of the leaders’ visits.

In 2015, with the care of Vice Premier Wang Yang, the CCPIT endeavored to join the systems like inter-ministerial meeting of international trade in services of the State Council, and inter-ministerial meeting of promotion of exhibition reform and development. It also undertook the major tasks such as “Belt and Road Initiative”, speeding up trade in services and acceleration of fostering new competitive advantages of foreign trade. Meanwhile, the CCPIT set up the trade and investment promotion system led by the Trade and Investment Promotion Department, to change its business structure with focus on exhibitions and forums in the past. It actively expanded business areas, constantly improved service means, enriched the contents of trade and investment promotion work, and achieved good results.

Jiang stressed, through the efforts of more than a year, the reform and adjustment of the CCPIT had ended temporarily and its expansion of functions has achieved partial results. This marked a successful conclusion for the trade promotion cause during the “Twelfth Five-Year” period, and laid a solid foundation for the “Thirteenth Five-Year”, thus it was widely praised.

The CCPIT has undertook a number of important tasks of “Belt and Road Initiative” with a lot of work done in 2015. Jiang said, the CCPIT will have more work and higher requirements in 2016 which means more pressure and more opportunities as well. The CCPIT will actively fulfill the tasks it undertakes and play the main role of enterprises in construction of “One Belt and One Road”, in order to implement the “Belt and Road Initiative” as required by the central government.
