2025 Annual Meeting for SMI China Council Held in Beijing

On May 8, the 2025 Annual Meeting for the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s China Council was held in Beijing. Yu Jianlong, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Chair of the SMI China Council, attended and addressed the event.

Yu Jianlong stated that the China Council has actively planned and engaged in extensive coordination over the past year, achieving notable results. Practical cooperation between Chinese and international companies within the SMI framework has yielded fruitful outcomes. He expressed the will that the China Council would continue to guide Chinese companies in participating in high-level international cooperation on sustainable development.

The meeting reviewed the China Council’s 2024–2025 work report and approved the membership applications of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), CNIC Corporation Limited (CNIC), and the Erdos Group. It also provided updates on the SMI China Forum. Representatives from 16 member companies spoke at the meeting, offering suggestions on climate-related initiatives, capacity building, and cooperation in energy transition, laying a stronger foundation for the Council’s future work.
