2021-04-02

A China-Europe freight train loaded with cars, auto parts and other cargo, departed from Tianjin Port at 10 am on Thursday, marking the 100th trip of a train bound for Europe from the port since the beginning of the year, local authorities said.

The train is bound for Mongolia via the port of Erenhot in northern China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region. Ninety percent of the cargo is from Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asian countries.

Tianjin Port, an important junction of sea and land routes under the Belt and Road Initiative, is a key international shipping hub. In the first quarter of the year, it made shipments of 11,604 containers via China-Europe freight trains, a year-on-year increase of 7.8 percent, according to the Tianjin Port Group.
