Training on Interpretation and Application of the United Nations Convention on Negotiable Cargo Documents Held in Chongqing

The Training on Interpretation and Application of the United Nations Convention on Negotiable Cargo Documents kicked off in Chongqing on June 2. Li Xingqian, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Huang Maojun, Vice Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, and Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Li Xingqian stated that the Convention marks a major achievement in safeguarding the multilateral trading system and serves as a critical instrument to bolster the resilience of global industrial and supply chains, promising substantial market benefits for Chinese and foreign enterprises. The CCPIT will deepen its cooperation with UNCITRAL to accelerate the entry into force of the Convention, conduct extensive promotion and provide application guidance, help businesses better integrate into global supply chains, and translate institutional innovations into tangible gains for enterprises.

Hosted by the CCPIT Training Center and organized by the CCPIT Chongqing Council, the event invited leading scholars and experts in law, finance, and logistics from China and abroad to give lectures on the core provisions, the introduction to the model form, and industrial application of the Convention, along with interactive sessions such as role-playing and roundtable discussions. More than 200 participants from foreign trade companies, financial institutions and universities attended the Training.
