On June 10, the China-Spain Economic and Trade Forum took place in Madrid, Spain. The event was attended by Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT); Chang Hexi, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Spain; María Cruz Díaz Álvarez, President of the Spanish Institute of Engineering (El Instituto de la Ingeniería de España, IIE); Carmelo, Investment Minister of Castilla-La Mancha; Guillermo, Economic Minister of Navarre; and Víctor, Economic Minister of Extremadura, all of whom delivered speeches. Representatives from trade and investment promotion agencies, business associations, and enterprises from both countries participated in the forum.
Ren Hongbin stated that this year marks the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership. The two countries have maintained frequent high-level exchanges and steadily advanced economic and trade cooperation. The CCPIT’s visit to Spain aims to implement the important consensus reached between the two heads of state, strengthen collaboration with Spanish counterpart institutions, upgrade bilateral economic and trade relations, enhance industrial and supply chain synergies, expand practical business cooperation under multilateral frameworks, and contribute to a more solid and dynamic China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership.
The Spanish business community widely acknowledged that strengthening economic and trade cooperation is timely against the backdrop of deepening bilateral relations. This event provided a practical and efficient platform for exchanges between enterprises from both sides. Spanish businesses highly recognized China’s active role in maintaining the stability of the global supply chain and boosting cooperation in this regard. They expressed willingness to leverage their strengths in logistics, manufacturing, energy, and other sectors, actively participate in the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), and jointly explore cooperation in emerging fields such as green and low-carbon development and the digital economy, with a view to achieving mutual benefit and common development.
The China International Exhibition Center Group Corporation (CIEC Group) signed cooperation agreements with relevant Spanish institutions and enterprises.
