China-Croatia Business Forum Held in Zagreb

2023-01-16

On November 25th, the China-Croatia Business Forum was held in Zagreb, capital of Croatia, and Zhang Shaogang, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and China Chamber of International Commerce, leading a delegation of entrepreneurs, attended its opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Zhang Shaogang pointed out that over the past 30 years since the establishment of China-Croatia diplomatic ties, the bilateral relations, withstanding changes in international landscape, have continuously made new developments. Economic and trade cooperation always serves as a ballast and powerhouse for the development of China-Croatia relations. Recent years have seen fruitful results and highlights in two countries' economic and trade cooperation. Currently, the world economy faces strong headwinds on its path toward recovery, and global development has suffered major setbacks. What China and Croatia need to do is to open up new horizons on a shifting landscape and foster new opportunities amidst crises. Not long ago, the 20th CPC National Congress was successfully held. China will adhere to the basic national policy of opening-up, firmly pursue a win-win strategy of opening-up, keep to the right direction of economic globalization, and continue to provide new opportunities for the world with China's new development. He said that with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties as a new starting point, the CCPIT stands ready to work with Croatia's business associations and chambers of commerce to fully leverage the complementarities of two countries' development strategies, resources and industrial structures, so as to expand deep, high-level and mutually-beneficial cooperation between two countries' business communities, and to jointly open a new chapter in China-Croatia economic and trade cooperation.

Qi Qianjin, Chinese Ambassador to Croatia, Tomislav Radoš, Vice President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (CCE), and Bojan Batinić, Director of the Directorate for Internationalization of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Croatia, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Business associations and chambers of commerce such as the CCE and BGI Genomics, and persons in charge from enterprises gave speeches on topics such as Croatian business environment, enterprises' business in Central and Eastern European countries(CEEC), and outlook for cooperation with the CEEC.

The forum was co-hosted by the CCPIT and CCE, and joined by nearly 100 Chinese and Croatian representatives. After the opening ceremony, more than 40 representatives from two countries' economic sectors had a candid and in-depth exchange of views and conducted business matchmakings. Croatian broadcasters like NOVA TV and mainstream media covered the forum extensively.
