On March 25, Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), met with Albert Bourla, Chairman of Pfizer, Wendell P. Weeks, Chairman of the Board of Corning, Roland Busch, President of Siemens AG and Merlin Swire, CEO of John Swire &Sons Limited. They exchanged views on topics including the development of multinational enterprises in China and promoting cooperation in international business circles. Ren said that, with a focus on four main business lines, namely, trade and investment promotion, commercial legal services, participation in global economic governance, and application-oriented think tank building, the CCPIT will be dedicated to serving enterprises at home and abroad based on its functions, in an attempt to build pragmatic and high-quality cooperation platforms to foster the development of multinational enterprises in China.
The heads of multinational enterprises expressed that, during the visit, they felt China’s determination and actions to pursue high-level opening-up and optimize the business environment continuously. They reiterated their optimism in the Chinese market and expressed their gratitude for the long-term support of the CCPIT to the development of multinational enterprises in China. They also expressed their willingness to participate in China’s low-carbon transformation and high-quality development.
