Joint Meeting 2019 for Chambers of Commerce between Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong held in Hong Kong

The Joint Meeting 2019 for Chambers of Commerce between Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong was held in Hong Kong on May 16. Gao Yan, Chairperson of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) attended the meeting.

Gao Yan noted, the joint meeting has become an important platform for exchanges between industrial and business communities of China’s mainland and Hong Kong.

“With continuously improved cooperation system, increasingly expanded cooperation scope, its social influence has significantly increased. As the core city of the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong will enjoy greater development space and international influence. CCPIT is willing to work with Hong Kong’s chambers and associations of commerce to explore more exchange channels, build more trade and investment promotion platforms, and provide more professional services to help Hong Kong take its tremendous advantages in talents, science and technology as well as rules, support Hong Kong in building world-class financial and sci-tech innovation centers, maintain Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability and foster a world-class greater bay area”, added Gao.

Jonathan Choi Koon-shum, President of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (CGCC) said, Hong Kong’s development in recent years is inseparable from the favorable policies of the Chinese central government and the support of industrial and business communities in the Chinese mainland.

“Hong Kong’s industrial and business communities will seize the strategic opportunities of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Greater Bay Area development strategy, and take Hong Kong’s advantages to strengthen the cooperation with their counterparts in the Chinese mainland to jointly explore the international market,” added Jonathan.

Officials from CGCC, Federation of Hong Kong Industries, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong and CCPIT’s sub-councils in Guangdong, Hunan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Zhuhai exchanged views and made proposals on fostering cooperation between industrial and business communities, realizing the free flow of resources in the Greater Bay Area, jointly exploring the markets of the Belt and Road Initiative target countries and collectively build a world-class bay area.
