Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo 2019 held in Guangzhou

The Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo 2019 was held in Guangzhou on August 23. Zhang Shenfeng, Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

The Expo was held in Guangzhou for the first time since its inception in 2014 and attracted more than 3,500 enterprises from 92 countries. Zhang Shenfeng said, the Belt and Road Initiative will provide inclusive cooperation platforms and unprecedented opportunities for countries across the world to speed up their economic and social development.

“CCPIT is ready to work closely with the government of Guangdong Province to raise the level of the Expo to deepen economy and trade cooperation among countries and achieve common development and prosperity,” added Zhang.

Meanwhile, Zhang Shenfeng attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the Theme Forum of the Expo. He said, the business community is the participant, contributor and mainstay of the high-quality Belt and Road construction. CCPIT will establish a China-based and world-oriented trade and investment promotion system involving Belt and Road countries and regions to serve as a better bridge for business communities of various countries. With a theme of “high-level cooperation and high-quality development”, the forum gathered nearly 1,500 representatives from over 40 countries and regions.
