China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) briefed the press in Beijing on May 20 about the 13th China-LAC Business Summit scheduled for later this year.
CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan said, the 13th China-LAC Business Summit will be held from December 9 to 11 in Panama City. The summit will focus on Belt and Road cooperation between China and Latin America. With the theme of “deepening Belt and Road cooperation for common China-LAC development and prosperity”, the forum will explore more opportunities for China-LAC cooperation in infrastructure, finance, trade, services and the development of SMEs, and promote steady development and prosperity of the two sides. During the Summit, various trade and investment promotion events such as the China-LAC investment and trade exhibition, B2B matchmaking meeting, roundtable meeting of China-LAC trade promotion agencies and business associations and chambers, and signing ceremony of China-LAC cooperation projects will be held.
Francisco Carlo Escobar Pedreschi, Panama’s ambassador to China, Julio Angel, Principal Advisor of Inter-American Development Bank, and officials of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, the Department of American and Oceania Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC and the China-LAC Cooperation Fund addressed the briefing. Latin American and Caribbean diplomatic envoys and representatives of business chambers and associations in China attended the briefing and made proposals on how to make the Summit a success and further fostering China-LAC economic and trade cooperation.
