Botswana-China Business Forum held in Gaborone

A business forum between Botswana and China was held in Gaborone, Botswana on July 23. Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Jiang Zengwei, Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation Unity Dow of Botswana and Chinese ambassador to Botswana Zhao Yanbo attended and addressed the forum. More than 200 entrepreneurs from the two countries also participated.

Jiang Zengwei noted, China and Botswana have long-term relations of friendship. The two countries have established mutually-beneficial economic and trade ties. Both sides are complementary in resources and industrial advantages, bearing huge cooperation potentials in infrastructure, capacity, agriculture and other sectors.

“We hope enterprises of both countries can foster exchanges through this forum to seek more trade and investment opportunities and achieve more progress. CCPIT is willing to join hands with trade promotion agencies of Botswana to create more favorable conditions for the cooperation between enterprises of the two sides and bring more impetus to bilateral economic and trade development,” added Jiang.

Unity Dow said that Botswana’s government attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and is willing to launch more practical cooperation. She said Botswana boasts vigorous economy, well-made rules and regulations, and an abundance of natural resources and human resources. Botswana is willing to expand trade with China, and attract more Chinese investment so as to contribute to Botswana in its diversified economy and sustainable development.

Zhao Yanbo hoped Chinese enterprises can deeply learn about Botswana and find more cooperation opportunities to achieve mutual benefits with the local companies by favor of the healthy development of China-Botswana relations and practical cooperation.

The forum, co-hosted by CCPIT and Botswana Investment and Trade Center, invited enterprises of both countries in import & export trade, energy, mining, infrastructure, information & communication, financial services, etc. Plenty of projects were successfully matched.
