China and the Philippines have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and investment.
The agreement was made as Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Jiang Zengwei was meeting with visiting former President of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in Beijing on June 21.
Jiang Zengwei said, the products of the two countries bear their unique features. Cooperation in agriculture, infrastructure construction, talent building, capacity and investment bear great potentials. Jiang suggested both sides foster the matching of development strategies, enhance mutually-beneficial cooperation in all fields under the Belt and Road Initiative so as to bring more opportunities for enterprises of both countries.
“CCPIT is willing to work with business community of the Philippines to encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in the Southeast Asian country through forums, seminars, exchange of visits and the bilateral & multilateral cooperation mechanism, so as to boost Sino-Filipino economic and trade cooperation,” added Jiang.
Arroyo said, Filipino-China cooperation in all fields have achieved progress by favor of the continuous improvement of bilateral political and economic relations. The Philippines hopes to learn successful experience from China in infrastructure construction, energy and technology, actively participate in the Belt and Road construction and launch more practical cooperation in trade, tourism and cultural sectors. Arroyo conveyed her gratitude over CCPIT’s contribution in promotion Filipino-China business ties and expected the Filipino business community to contribute more to boosting bilateral and regional economic development.
