A senior Chinese official has advocated that the business community of China and ASEAN countries foster practical cooperation based on mutual benefits.
Jiang Zengwei, Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) made the remarks as he addressed the opening ceremony of the 14th China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in Nanning on September 12.
“Themed at ‘Co-Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Promoting Regional Economic Integration through Tourism’, the large-scale China-ASEAN business gala is in accordance with the cooperation intention of the business community from both sides under the framework of the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative. I hope both sides can jointly build the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and contribute to creating a closer China-ASEAN community with shared destiny,” added Jiang.
Brunei's Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone attended and addressed the opening ceremony.
Initiated in 2004, China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit are important platforms to promote China-ASEAN government-enterprise dialogues, trade and investment cooperation and the development of regional economy.
