The 8th Asian Business Summit held in Seoul, South Korea

Themed at “One Asia, Business Asia”, the 8th Asian Business Summit was held in Seoul, South Korea on July 25. Leaders of 14 chambers of commerce or business associations from 10 Asian economies exchanged ideas about Asian development strategy, innovation, globalization, “Belt and Road” Initiative and connectivity. A joint declaration was issued after the summit. Lee Nak-yeon, Prime Minister of South Korea attended and addressed the summit.

When addressing the summit, CCPIT Vice Chairman Chen Zhou noted, China firmly supports economic globalization and promotes trade liberalization for the construction along the “Belt and Road” route.

Three proposals have been made by Chen Zhou to foster economic cooperation in Asian region in a bid to achieving common prosperity and development.

First, all economies shall work together to push forward globalization and regional economic integration process, and further explore economic growth potentials in the Asian region. Second, China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative shall be matched with development strategies of other countries to enhance connectivity. Third, innovation-driven strategy shall be advocated to build a vigorous mode for economic growth.

Meanwhile, Chen Zhou also shared the achievements that China has made in the economic restructuring, loosening of market access, a more open service industry as well as IPR protection.

Asian Business Summit, initiated in 2010 by Japan Business Federation, is a multilateral business meeting in the Asian region. It is dedicated to promoting exchanges among business associations of major economies in Asia, fostering continuous growth of Asian economy to achieve common prosperity. The 2018 summit will be held in India.
